What is a machine ID?

A SHA256 fingerprint your installed copy of Indolent Forge generates from your hostname and primary disk volume. Click "Show machine ID" inside the app under Settings > License. Your license key is signed against this ID, so it only unlocks on the machine that bought it.

Can I move my license to another computer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Email support@indolent.design from the email you bought with, include your new machine ID, and we re-issue your license. No fee. We do this manually for v1; auto-swap is on the roadmap.

How does the yearly license work?

Forge is $49.99 per year for one machine. Your license key is valid through the date you have paid for; the key itself carries that date. To cancel, email support@indolent.design from the address you bought with. We cancel it the same business day, and your key keeps working until the date printed on it. Renew and we email you a fresh key to paste into Settings > License.

Are updates included?

Yes. All updates, including major versions, are included while your license is active. There are no upgrade fees.

Refund policy?

30 days on your first purchase, no questions. Try the free 14-day trial first to be sure it fits your shop. If you bought and changed your mind, email support and we issue a Stripe refund within 1 business day. Renewals: cancel before the renewal date. To cancel, email support@indolent.design from the address you bought with. We cancel it the same business day, and your key keeps working until the date printed on it. If a renewal caught you by surprise, email us and we will sort it out.

What if I'm not happy with it?

Email support@indolent.design within 30 days for a full refund. No questions. Steel fab is hard enough — we don't make returns harder.

Does it require an internet connection?

Accepted Answer

No. Nesting, file I/O, PDF/Excel export, license verification and the Slevin assistant all run offline. The only network traffic is the in-app update check and any bug report you choose to send.

What about the AI assistant — do I need to bring my own API key?

Accepted Answer

No. Slevin is an offline assistant: its knowledge base (30+ steel-fab reference documents covering AISC, ASME, API, AWS, OSHA, estimating and proposals) ships inside the installer and is searched locally. There is no API key, no cloud model and nothing is sent anywhere.
