— About Indolent

Built for the estimator
who actually does the nesting.

Indolent Forge Nesting is desktop software for steel fabrication shops that refuse to spend $15,000 on a nester and refuse to keep using spreadsheets. It reads your KISS files, optimizes your stock, and prints cut sheets your shop floor will actually understand.

— Why this exists

The middle of the market was empty.

For decades the nesting-software conversation has gone two ways: spend $15K on an enterprise SaaS, or keep using DOS-era tooling. Neither is honest about what an estimator actually needs.

The $15K problem

SigmaNEST and ProNest start around $12,000 and climb fast with annual maintenance. For a small-to-mid shop that bids by the week, that math just does not work.

The 1989 problem

ROMAC PC8 — a DOS-era nester — is still in daily use at shops across the country because the alternatives cost a project manager. It works, barely, on Windows 10 in a DOSBox shim.

The middle was missing

There was no honest option for a real estimator who needs a real nester, can read KISS files, prints shop-floor cut sheets, and costs less than one bad week of scrap.

— The name

Why “Indolent”?

Indolent: inclined to laziness. The good kind — let the computer figure out the best plate layout while you go pour coffee.

Good software does the work so you don’t have to. That’s the whole brand.

— Principles

What we believe about shop software.

Three rules that decide every feature, every cut sheet, every line of the BOM.

The shop is the spec

Every feature is stress-tested on real jobs before it ships. If it does not survive a Monday morning shear queue, it does not ship.

Owned, not rented

Perpetual license. You pay once. Updates included for life. No "license suspended" emails when your card expires.

Reads the files you already have

KISS files from Tekla, SDS/2, and Advance Steel work out of the box. No conversion, no double-entry, no IT project.

Try it on your next bid.
